Volker Voigt – Managing Director

Volker Voigt worked for the management consulting company Arthur D. Little for seven years. Here he managed restructuring and IT projects worldwide. He then founded the Cataligent company in Palo Alto in 2000 together with two colleagues. Mr. Voigt has been dealing with projects for 30 years and can therefore draw on a wealth of experience in various industries. He is both the author of numerous book contributions and a sought-after speaker on project management topics.

EBS Business School

Cat4's financial management is one of the most flexible on the market. It can be used for budgeting purposes, cost planning and controlling, profitability analysis, development of business cases in general, and management of cost reduction projects. The underlying concept is both straightforward and flexible, Cat4 also allows the definition of accounts. Financial transactions can be planned for each account, each point in time, and each project (or WBS element). Based on the accounts, a calculation schema can be set up that even allows for performance indicators to be computed. The aggregation of such indicators along the WBS is possible. In addition, many of the financial indicators are implemented as standard functionality, e.g. Earnings before Interest, Tax, and Amortization (EBITA).

The implementation of our processes in Cat4 was the logical continuation of our efforts to make decisions that are as transparent as possible and based on reliable information. In addition, we have created a platform with the project portal on which all project participants can not only find out about their own project activities, but also view the contents of the projects of other business units. This led to a clear gain in transparency and simplified voting. In this way, we regularly discover synergy potential between the business units.

A group-wide earnings improvement program was initiated to strengthen sustainable earning power. Cat4 served as the central coordination and control instrument under the name "Top- Speed". All measures were stored in the system and could thus be promoted centrally and decentrally. The transparency gained in this way about the current status of all measures helped us significantly to successfully complete the program.
