To define a business strategy well is to define what must be reported later. When strategy is vague, reporting becomes vague. Teams submit status updates, but leaders cannot easily connect work to priorities, financial impact, risks, or decisions needed.<\/p>\n

Reporting discipline starts before execution. It starts when leaders translate strategy into objectives, initiatives, owners, measures, targets, approval gates, and reporting rules that everyone understands.<\/p>\n

A strategy statement may describe where the organization wants to go, but reporting needs more structure. Vague strategy also creates weak accountability. If no one knows which initiative owns a target, no one can be challenged when value slips. If finance is not part of the reporting model, savings may be claimed before they are validated. If decision rights are unclear, delayed approvals can hide behind broad status comments.<\/p>\n
